Overview
The Database Options dialog appears at startup when LinkFixer Advanced is unable to locate or connect to your SQL Server database.
During launch, the application automatically tests the database connection. If the connection fails, this dialog is displayed so you can review and correct the issue.
Common Causes
Incorrect SQL Server address
The server name or address may have changed.
Database is offline or unavailable
The SQL Server instance or database may not be running.
Network or connectivity issues
The application may be unable to reach the server.
How to Resolve the Issue
Verify Server Details
Ensure the SQL Server address entered in the dialog is correct and up to date.
Check Database Status
Confirm that the SQL Server instance and database are online and accessible.
Update Connection Settings
If the server location has changed, enter the correct connection details in the dialog box.
Temporary Workaround
If you are unable to reconnect to SQL Server immediately:
- Change the database option in the top section of the dialog to “File System.”
- This will switch the application to use the built-in SQLite database.
Important: The SQLite database is intended for temporary or non-production use only. You should resolve the SQL Server connection issue and switch back before running any production tasks.
If the problem persists after verifying your connection settings, further investigation of your SQL Server environment may be required.
