Why Are Some of My Mapped Drives Not Showing in the Network Locations Screen?

The Network Locations screen in LinkFixer Advanced displays only the network drives that are mapped and accessible to the user account currently logged into the machine running the application.

Why Mapped Drives May Not Appear

Issues can occur when drives are mapped under one user account but LinkFixer Advanced is run under a different user account.
For example:
  1. If the Z:\ drive is mapped while logged in as User A,
  2. But LinkFixer Advanced is launched while logged in as User B,
then the application may not be able to detect or access the drive mapped by User A. This happens because mapped drives are user-specific in Windows, and they are not automatically shared across different user sessions.

To avoid permission and visibility issues, follow these steps:
  1. Log into the machine running LinkFixer Advanced using a user account that has the necessary network permissions.
  2. Map the required network drives while logged in as that same user.
  3. Launch LinkFixer Advanced using the same user account.
  4. LinkFixer Advanced inherits its network access permissions from the Windows user account that is currently logged into the machine. Ensuring that the same administrative or authorized user account is used throughout the process will allow the application to properly detect and access the mapped drives.
