What is a "linkID"?

During the Inoculate process in LinkFixer Advanced, a 16-digit hexadecimal identifier, known as a "locator beacon", is inserted into the metadata of the files being processed.
When this locator beacon is associated with a link inside a parent file, it is referred to as a linkID.
When the same locator beacon is embedded in the child file—the file that the link points to—it is referred to as a fileID.
