What does the Inoculate process do?
The Inoculate process protects your files from broken links during migrations or folder changes. It prepares your files so that links can be automatically repaired later, ensuring they remain accessible and reliable.
How it works
- Assigns LinkIDs: Each child file (the file being linked to) receives a unique identifier called a LinkID.
- Embeds LinkIDs: These LinkIDs are stored inside the child files and matched to the links in the parent file (the file containing the links).
- Creates associations: This builds a secondary connection between parent and child files, beyond the original link itself.
Why it matters
- If files or folders are moved or renamed (such as during a data migration), links may break.
- With inoculation, the complementary Cure process can automatically repair those broken links in the parent file.
- This ensures your files remains usable and safe from the common problem of broken links.
