Overview

This guide outlines the required steps to migrate content from SharePoint On-Premises to SharePoint Online using LinkFixer Advanced. Proper configuration is critical to ensure accurate link resolution and a successful migration.

1. Verify System Requirements

Before starting the migration, ensure your environment meets all LinkFixer Advanced system requirements.
Reference:
LinkFixer Advanced System Requirements
Ensure the following are properly configured:
  1. Migration tools
  2. Hardware and software requirements
  3. File system and SharePoint Online account permissions
  4. SQL Server requirements
  5. SQL database setup using SQL Server Management Studio
Required URLs and ports are open or whitelisted for:
  1. Software updates
  2. License activation
  3. Support ticket submission

2. Configure SharePoint Sites in LinkFixer Advanced

Add both your SharePoint On-Premises and SharePoint Online environments into LinkFixer Advanced.

Important Configuration Notes
Map the SharePoint Online root site and all site collection URLs
This allows LinkFixer Advanced to correctly identify relationships between sites.

Example:

Root Site:
https://companyname.sharepoint.com/

Site Collection URL:
https://companyname.sharepoint.com/sites/Finance

Critical Requirement
The SharePoint On-Premises site must be included in the Network Locations list within LinkFixer Advanced when running the Cure process in SharePoint Online.

Why this matters:
  1. This enables LinkFixer Advanced to distinguish between:
  2. SharePoint On-Premises URLs
  3. Standard web URLs

Enable the setting to force links to absolute format during the Inoculation process.
