Answer

No. The Inoculate process is only required if you plan to use the Cure process after migrating files.

Key differences

  1. Modify Links
    1. Repair links that are already broken.
    2. Works as powerful "find and replace" tool, searching for a specific before string and replacing it with the specific after value.
    3. Does not rely on the "locator beacons" created by inoculate.
  2. Inoculate
    1. Can only be used on files that currently contain valid (working links).
    2. Inserts locator beacons into file metadata, which are later used by the Cure process.
    3. Must be run before migration, while files are still in their original locations.
  3. Cure
    1. Used after migration to repair links in files that have been moved.
    2. Depends on the locator beacons created during Inoculation.

Important Notes

  1. Running Inoculate before using Modify Links will not harm your files, but it is not required or recommended.
  2. Modify Links is independent and does not need Inoculation to function.
