Starting with LinkFixer Advanced version 7.0.1.580. Cure can now run across multiple machines or instances. This feature is especially useful for large datasets containing files with links spread across the entire dataset.

Note: In earlier versions, Cure could run on multiple machines, but links could not be fixed across multiple Cure instances.

Requirements for Multi-Machine Cure

  1. A large Inoculated dataset containing files with links across the dataset.
    1. SharePoint Online, Box, or OpenText: typically, above 250GB
    2. File share migration: typically, above 500GB
  2. Two or more instances of LinkFixer Advanced.
  3. A list of Source Folders to exclude from Cure
  4. A SQL database shared by all Cure instances.

Steps to Run Cure Across Multiple Instances

  1. Identify the large Inoculated dataset to Cure.
  2. Set up two or more instances of LinkFixer Advanced for multi-machine Cure.
  3. Connect all instances to the same SQL database.
  4. Ensure all instances have the same Source Folders exluded.
  5. Enable Pause after scanning files:
    1. Open LinkFixer Advanced and Go to Hamburger Menu (☰).

    2. Select Settings.

    3. Select Cure and Tick the box "Pause after scanning files".

  6. Split the dataset selection evenly (by data size) across the instances under the Select Folders tab.
  7. Apply the same filters under the Select Files and Select Links tab across all instances.
  8. Run Cure.

Cure Process Phases

Phase 1: Scan
  1. Each instance scans files and populates the SQL database with file and link data.
  2. The process pauses at 50% progress to allow all instances to finish scanning.
Phase 2: Cure
  1. Once all instances have completed scanning (at 50%) click the Play button above the progress bar to start the Cure phase.

After Cure

  1. Review the PDF and CSV reports to confirm that all expected links were successfully fixed.
