Why Mapping Shares Matters

Mapping shares on the LinkFixer Advanced server ensures that links can be properly:
  1. Inoculated
  2. Cured
  3. Modified
LinkFixer Advanced automatically detects shares mapped in Windows. You can view them (with their drive letters) by going to: Hamburger menu (☰) → Network Locations.

Step 1: Match Drive Letters

  1. Make sure the share is mapped to the same drive letter that users see on their machines.
Example:
  1. User mapping: \\server\servername\Finance\ → Z:\
  2. Server mapping: Must also be Z:\

Step 2: Match Folder Levels

  1. Ensure the share is mapped to the same folder level as users have it.
Example:
  1. User mapping: \\server\servername\Finance\Finance 2019\ → Z:\Finance 2019\
  2. Server mapping: Must be Z:\ with Finance 2019 as a sub-folder

Step 3: Verify with a Scan

  1. If unsure about drive letters or folder levels, run a LinkFixer Advanced Scan
  2. This will confirm how shares are mapped.
