Question: We inoculated our files in the original location and migrated them to a new location. Many child files are now in sub-folders called “Links”, and many of the files share names like Image 1, Image 2, Image 3, etc. Can LinkFixer Advanced still cure these links if the folder and file names are not unique?

Answer: Yes — absolutely!

Why duplicate names don't matter

  1. The Cure process does not rely on file or folder names.
    1. Instead, it uses the hidden identifier created during inoculation:
      1. LinkIDs
      2. FileIDs
  2. Cure matches these IDs between parent and child files.
  3. Once a match is found, Cure automatically reconnects the parent file to the correct child file — regardless of name or location.

Key takeaway

  1. As long as inoculation was done correctly and completely in the original location, Cure will successfully fix all links,
  2. Duplicate file names or identical folder names (like multiple “Links” folders) do not affect the process.
