How does LinkFixer Advanced handle SharePoint Library settings?

There are three key SharePoint library settings that affect how LinkFixer Advanced processes files: Content Approval, Version Control, and Require Checkout.
Content Approval
A SharePoint document library can be configured to require Content Approval. When this feature is enabled, any new or modified content must be approved by a designated SharePoint user before its workflow status changes from Pending to Approved, making the changes visible to other users.
LinkFixer Advanced can operate when Content Approval is enabled, but doing so may slow down processing performance. For best results, it is recommended to temporarily disable Content Approval before running LinkFixer Advanced and re-enable it after processing is complete.
Version Control
If Version Control is enabled in SharePoint, LinkFixer Advanced creates a new document version each time it modifies a file.
The version number is updated when the file is checked back into SharePoint after processing:
- If minor versioning is enabled, the version may change from 2.0 to 2.1.
- If major versioning is enabled, the version may change from 2.0 to 3.0.
Require Checkout
LinkFixer Advanced automatically checks files in and out of SharePoint as needed to complete its processing tasks, regardless of whether the Require Checkout setting is enabled.
However, enabling Require Checkout can cause issues if files were moved into SharePoint using tools such as Windows Explorer, RoboCopy, or similar utilities. In these cases, files may arrive in SharePoint already in a checked-out state. When LinkFixer Advanced attempts to check out these files to process them, it cannot do so because they are already checked out.
To avoid this issue, it is recommended to disable the Require Checkout setting before running LinkFixer Advanced on files in SharePoint.
