How Does LinkFixer Advanced Handle MicroStation “Variable” Link Paths?

MicroStation supports three types of link path formats: relative, absolute, and variable. Variable links function similarly to relative links, but instead of being relative to the current file location, they reference specific locations defined by user-configured variables within MicroStation.
LinkFixer Advanced includes configuration settings designed to accommodate these variable link paths.
Handling Variable Paths
In some cases, LinkFixer Advanced may report certain links as missing, even though the referenced files actually exist. This can occur when the links rely on MicroStation variable paths that have not yet been defined within LinkFixer Advanced.
To resolve this, you can manually add the variable paths in the appropriate configuration screens. These paths can be specified in one of two ways:
- Direct Folder Path – Enter the full folder location where the linked files are stored.
- Variable-Based Path – Define the variable name along with the corresponding folder path it represents.
By configuring these variable paths, LinkFixer Advanced can correctly resolve and locate files referenced by MicroStation variable links that would otherwise appear to be missing or broken.
