How does LinkFixer Advanced cope with SharePoint Online throttling

LinkFixer Advanced (version 5.3 and later) includes functionality to mitigate SharePoint Online throttling by supporting multiple SharePoint Online user accounts.

The application can deploy multiple processing agents, allowing up to four LinkFixer Advanced Agents per CPU core. For example, a machine with four CPU cores can support up to 16 unique SharePoint Online accounts, following a 4:1 ratio of SharePoint IDs to CPU cores. This approach improves processing efficiency and helps distribute requests to reduce throttling.

SharePoint Online Account Requirements

  1. All SharePoint Online accounts used must meet the following requirements:
  2. Must be a domain user account
  3. Must be a SharePoint Online Site Collection Administrator
  4. Must have read/write access to the Active Directory domain
  5. Must have access to:
            https://sharepoint.com
            https://microsoftonline.com

Account Configuration Notes

Each SharePoint Online account:
  1. Can be unlicensed (if available) or use a low-tier Office 365 license
  2. Does not require SharePoint administrator privileges
  3. Must have Site Collection Administrator access to the target sites

Adding Multiple SharePoint Online Credentials

To configure multiple credentials:

1. Open the Main Menu in the top-left corner.
2. Select Network Locations.
3. Click Add | SharePoint.
4. Enter your SharePoint Online URL.
5. Enable Multiple Credentials by selecting the checkbox.
6. Click Add.
7. Choose the appropriate authentication type:
Username/Password – for accounts without MFA
Office 365 – for MFA-enabled accounts
Office 365 with Admin Consent – for MFA-enabled accounts requiring Document ID functionality (requires one-time global admin consent per account)

8. Enter the credentials for each SharePoint Online account.
9. Test the connection and click OK.
10. After adding all accounts, select Test Connection again to verify configuration.

Importing Credentials via CSV

LinkFixer Advanced also supports importing multiple SharePoint Online credentials from a CSV file. This allows bulk configuration of accounts for faster setup.

By distributing workload across multiple authenticated accounts and agents, LinkFixer Advanced significantly reduces the likelihood of throttling and improves overall performance when processing SharePoint Online content.
