The extension is the part of a file name that comes after the basename. In windows, extensions are often three characters long (e.g., .xls, .doc), but they can be longer.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open LinkFixer Advanced and select Move/Rename.

  2. Select "Create Rules" and click "Add Rule".

  3. Either type in or click browse and navigate the file you want to modify.

    4. Click "OK" to save the rule.

Handling Multiple Periods in File Names

Some file names contain more than one period.
Example:
my.file.xls - In this case, LinkFixer Advanced can be configured to recognize either:
  1. .xls (the last extension), or
  2. .file.xls (the last full extension including the middle period.)
You can define how extensions are recognized by doing the steps below:
  1. Open Hamburger Menu (☰).

  2. Select Settings.

  3. Select files on the left menu and look for the "File Extensions" section.
