Event Viewer is a component of Microsoft Windows that allows administrators and users to view detailed event logs on a local or remote computer. These logs record system events such as application errors, warnings, and critical system issues.
When a critical issue occurs—such as an application crash—Event Viewer logs can help support teams identify the root cause of the problem and work toward a resolution. Providing these logs when submitting a support request can significantly speed up troubleshooting.
How to Gather Windows Event Viewer Logs
Follow the steps below to collect the relevant logs:
1. Open Event Viewer
- Type “Event Viewer” in the Windows Start Menu search bar and open the application.
- Alternatively, press Windows + R, type eventvwr.msc, and press Enter.
2. Create a Custom View
- In the Actions panel on the right side of the Event Viewer window, click Create Custom View.
3. Set the Filter
- In the Create Custom View dialog, configure the filter to include the time period when the critical LinkFixer Advanced issue occurred.
- Under Event logs, select both:
- Application
- System
- Click OK.
4. Save the Custom View
- Give the custom view a recognizable name and save it.
5. Export the Logs
- Export the saved logs and attach the file to your LinkFixer Advanced support ticket.
