Connecting LinkFixer Advanced to a Microsoft SQL Server Database

Connecting LinkFixer Advanced to a Microsoft SQL Server database is one of the most important steps you can take to optimize performance, especially for larger projects. SQL Server provides improved speed, scalability, and support for multi-threaded processing.

How to Configure the Database Connection

Follow these steps to connect LinkFixer Advanced to your Microsoft SQL Server database:

  1. Open the Main Menu (☰) and navigate to Settings → Database, then select Change Settings.

      2. In the Configure Database Connection screen, change the Database Provider from SQLite to SQL Server.

      3. Enter the SQL Server name in the appropriate field.
4.Choose the authentication method required to connect to your SQL Server.
      5. Select the appropriate LinkFixer Advanced database from the Database dropdown menu.
6.Click Test Connection to verify the connection.
7.If the test is successful, click OK to save the settings.

Default SQLite Database

LinkFixer Advanced is installed with a SQLite database by default. This configuration is suitable for:

  • Testing and evaluation
  • Smaller production projects (up to approximately 100 GB)

For larger projects or environments requiring higher performance, it is recommended to connect LinkFixer Advanced to a Microsoft SQL Server database.

Advantages of Using SQL Server

Using Microsoft SQL Server provides several important benefits:

Improved Performance

SQL Server processes data faster than SQLite, which helps LinkFixer Advanced analyze and update files and links more efficiently.

Multi-Threaded Processing

When using Microsoft SQL Server, LinkFixer Advanced can process files using multiple threads simultaneously. This capability is automatically enabled when the database provider is switched from SQLite to Microsoft SQL Server.

Parallel Processing Across Multiple Instances

You can run multiple instances of LinkFixer Advanced at the same time to complete large projects faster. To enable this workflow, configure each instance of LinkFixer Advanced to connect to the same SQL Server database.
