Hyperlinks Are Changed?
Modified on: Wed, 11 Mar, 2026 at 10:56 AM
Yes. LinkFixer Advanced includes settings that allow
the software to automatically update the anchor text associated with
hyperlinks in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files when those
links are modified. This can occur during the Cure, Move/Rename,
or Modify Links processes.
Accessing Anchor Text Settings
These optional settings can be accessed by clicking the hamburger
menu, navigating to Settings, and selecting Anchor Text.
From there, choose the appropriate options depending on the
file types you plan to process:
- Word
Options
- Excel
Options
- PowerPoint
Options
To enable automatic updates, select the checkbox:
“Update anchor text when hyperlink is changed.”
Anchor Text Update Options
When this option is enabled, two additional choices become
available:
1. “and anchor text is the same as the hyperlink path”
Select this option if you want LinkFixer Advanced to update the anchor text only
when the existing anchor text exactly matches the hyperlink path. If the
anchor text is different from the link path, it will not be modified.
2. “regardless of whether anchor text is the same as the
hyperlink path”
Select this option if you want LinkFixer Advanced to update the anchor text whenever
the hyperlink path is changed, even if the existing anchor text does not
match the original link path.
Example
For example, suppose a hyperlink in an Excel file has the
path:
C:\MyFolder\MyFile.xls
and the anchor text displayed in the document is:
If “and
anchor text is the same as the hyperlink path” is selected, the anchor
text “Click here” will remain unchanged when the hyperlink path is
updated.
If “regardless
of whether anchor text is the same as the hyperlink path” is selected,
“Click here” will be replaced with the new modified hyperlink
path.
Summary
LinkFixer Advanced provides flexible control over how anchor
text is handled when hyperlinks are modified, allowing users to choose whether
anchor text should remain unchanged or be automatically updated to match the
new link path.
