Can Multiple Instances of LinkFixer Advanced Be Run at the
Same Time to Increase Processing Speed?
Modified on: Wed, 11 Mar, 2026 at 10:28 AM
Multiple instances of LinkFixer Advanced cannot be run
simultaneously on the same machine. However, the software is designed to take
advantage of multi-core processors by processing multiple files and links at
the same time through the use of multiple agent processes (processing threads).
Running Multiple Agents
LinkFixer Advanced can significantly improve processing
performance by using multiple agents. Depending on your system configuration,
this can allow files and links to be processed up to three times faster.
By default, the application uses the “Moderate” performance
setting, which balances processing speed with overall system resource usage.
Additional performance modes include:
- Cooperative
– Uses minimal system resources.
- Moderate
– Default setting that balances performance and resource usage.
- Aggressive
– Utilizes the maximum available CPU and memory resources to achieve
faster processing.
The Performance setting is a hidden configuration. To enable
or adjust it, please contact LinkTek Support by submitting a support request or
emailing Support@LinkTek.com.
Running Multiple Instances on Different Machines
While multiple instances cannot run on the same computer, LinkFixer
Advanced can be installed and run on multiple machines simultaneously. This
approach can further increase overall throughput and reduce the time required
to process large projects.
When running multiple agents and multiple instances across
different machines, the following guidelines apply:
Use
a Microsoft SQL Server database instead of the default SQLite database
included with LinkFixer Advanced. All agents and instances must connect to
the same SQL Server database.
During
the Inoculate process, LinkFixer Advanced uses only a single agent per
instance.
The
following file types are currently processed using a single agent per
instance:
- InDesign
- MicroStation
- PageMaker
- Summary
By combining multiple agents on a single machine with multiple
instances running on separate machines, organizations can dramatically reduce
the time required to scan, analyze, and repair links across large collections
of files.
