Yes. LinkFixer Advanced supports Microsoft SQL Server, and its use is strongly recommended for improved performance—especially when working with large datasets.
Default Database vs. SQL Server
By default, LinkFixer Advanced uses SQLite, a file-based database included with the software.
SQLite
- Suitable for testing or smaller datasets (under ~250 GB)
- Simple setup with no additional configuration required
Microsoft SQL Server / SQL Express
- Recommended for large-scale processing
- Provides better performance and scalability
When using Microsoft SQL Server instead of SQLite:
- LinkFixer Advanced can utilize multi-threaded processing
- This enables faster scanning and processing of large volumes of files
- Overall project completion time is significantly reduced
Important Configuration Considerations
Database Growth Settings
By default, SQL Server expands the database size automatically as needed. However, during large scans, this can lead to excessive resource consumption.
Recommendations:
- Pre-allocate approximately 500 MB of database space per 100,000 files
- Configure database growth in 250 MB increments
Server Resource Recommendations
For optimal performance:
- At least 16 GB RAM
- Minimum of 4 CPU cores
Memory Management Tip:
- Limit SQL Server memory usage to 4 GB less than total system memory
- This ensures Windows retains enough memory to operate efficiently
